checklist More Details comment Description manage_accounts Instructor Info info FAQ program overview In this imaginative, hands-on art class, young artists will explore the beautiful landscapes and environments inspired by artists and the natural world. From cozy forests, to magical mountains, oceans, deserts, and hidden gardens, each month students will imagine and design their very own environments and scenic worlds. Students will experiment with how landscapes can tell stories. We will think about weather, time of day, texture, color, and the tiny details that make a place feel alive. Children will work independently as well as collaboratively to strengthen their observation skills, creativity, and visual storytelling. Children will bring their landscapes to life using a mix of expressive art materials, including: Watercolor, paint, pens, pastel, and collage Recycled and found objects to build textured environments and layered scenes Together, we will learn: How to use watercolor techniques to create atmosphere, light, and mood How scale and perspective help landscapes feel deep and believable How foreground, middle ground, and background create space in an artwork How color, texture, and detail can transform an imagined environment How landscapes can tell stories without words By the end of the class, each child will have created their own richly-imagined landscape artwork full of creativity, detail, and personal expression. A perfect class for kids who love drawing, painting, nature, world-building, and creating places from their imagination. She specializes in creative experiences that inspire play and self-empowerment. Alice started teaching art at summer camps in Southern California and has now been teaching art for twenty years. With this idea in mind she went back to school and earned a master’s degree in Integrative Health from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). At CIIS Alice focused on the healing power of creative expression and the connection between art and wellbeing.
